hand reared Parrots

Well Christmas was coming up my husband Frank asked what would I like. My reply was a quad bike or a parrot like Sally's, his reply was you have more chance of walking on the moon! Well I thought that was that what would I get not another pair of earrings, I used to joke to every one that I was having a quad bike for Christmas. My grandchildren thought that was a great idea. We were then out for a meal with our friend's Sally and Paul when Sally said would you like a parrot? I said of coarse I would. But I would love the big white cockatoo's like yours but I've got no chance, oh she said you never know i said yes like hell and it was left at that.

Then one day nearing Christmas my husband said he was going in town to get a computer part knowing full well I would not go, I'm not interested in computer's I find they don't work quick enough I get irritable with them , He then said will pick up Sarah "our eldest daughter" she likes looking around and off he went. Great I've got a few hour's to myself peace and quiet.

Then a week leading up to Christmas Frank said to me that Sarah wanted to go and look at a printer, boring I thought, I'm not coming I said why did you not get one the other day? Oh was the reply she could not afford it then, I said normally you pay for it. Off he went again, I shouted don't forget my quad bike yes I'm sure was the reply. A couple of hour's went by I thought to myself how long does it take to buy a printer, I'll them a ring one of them Sarah answered I said where on earth are you? the reply was we have had to look in P C world and Curry's have sold out and trying to get from one place to the other is a nightmare in Exeter. Oh well I said have fun see you later. Eventually he arrived home I said must have been a big printer!

Frank then said to me that I must stay in the lounge and not to go in the kitchen, I thought blooming hell how is he going to get a quad bike in the kitchen. There was a lot of banging going on I thought my mind racing what on earth is he doing what has he got? eventually he said come into the kitchen, but keep your eyes closed I said you will have to lead the way as I can't see where I'm going he came and took me in the kitchen and said open your eyes.

When I did I was lost for words "this is not usually for me" and there it was a Greater-Sulphur-Crested-Cockatoo in a cage. I was so excited I gave him a big hug then said where's my quad bike he said that's just typical of you never satisfied. I was so excited I said oh I must ring Sally, I rang her and said guess what I've got? she said You got a Deano parrot "that's the name of hers". Then everything started to make sense all the whispering and silence when I got near her and Frank when we were out together.

But it was worth it Oh my very own parrot I was ringing every one I knew and it seam's everyone knew except me. God I said to Frank how did you keep that from me you can never keep secret but obviously he can if he has to. We named her Mollie and that was the start of me keeping parrot's. Frank was dead against me having any more but I went ahead with out him knowing. Someone agreed to build me some aviary's Frank was very angry but I thought to my self he has his computer's now I have a hobby and that was 5 year's ago.

I now have 7 pet bird's indoor's and alot of mess to go with them. Frank and I have had a few words about it over the years but he gets over it and I get on with it. I have had some ups and downs but alot of pleasure as well hand rearing babies with Frank's help . I feed my parrots on Harrison's organic food "with this there is no waste" they then have fruit or vegetable's every day. They also have clean water every day with Aviclens by the birdcare company in it this keep's the water sparkling clean and hygienic.
